Welcome to Bloxham Bowls Club
The club has a full season of matches - Oxford League, men's and ladies Friendlies, Ladies, and the Oxfordshire Mixed Triples
Greens are usually available on a turn up and play basis. All competition games MUST be noted in the club diary, and this will give those matches priority over other attendees. Wednesday afternoon is still reserved for the WASP sessions
Bloxham Bowls Club is well known and is a friendly and successful club. Set in the north of Oxfordshire it has been a thriving bowls club since 1957. The last few years, as they have been for all bowls clubs, tested our resilience but the club is continuing to thrive having recruited several new members over the last two seasons and we look forward to more new members for 2023. If you are at all interested in the game contact us through the details on the web site, just turn up on match day or attend our WASPS session on Wednesday afternoons.
The game of bowls can be enjoyed by everybody, no matter what age, sex or disability. We are always looking for new members. How many times have people thought about 'just having a go'; please don't worry, come along and sample the game and it's hospitality. Experience is not necessary as we have coaches available who can help if required. A player in their first years can sometimes be as good as someone who has been playing for a number of years.
Newcomers can practice and learn the game themselves at their own pace or take advantage of the clubs own coaches to aid their advancement in the game. Bowls are available to borrow for beginners and provided you have some flat smooth soled shoes you can start with no expense. When you feel ready you can make yourself available for team selection if you wish to try the competitive element of bowls. We play in men's and mixed league matches and also play many mixed friendly matches in the local area.
The club is currently (2023) in Oxfordshire County League 4. This year we are hoping to field a full ladies team of our own due to the successful enrolment of several new ladies members in prior years. The Ladies captain, Jeanine Venter, will welcome all comers to play in her team.
We also hold club competitions for our members, with trophies for singles, pairs and triples and we shall continuing our WASPS session - Wednesday Afternoon Social & Practice Session. This is open to all comers to try your hand at bowls, meet some members and see if you like the club and would like to join or to just have some friendly practice. Follow the link at the bottom of the page for more details.
Why not, without obligation, come along and have a go and see if you like it. All you need to start is a pair of flat soled shoes or trainers and we will provide the rest. During the season, May to September, club practice sessions are held every Monday evening from 6:30 pm weather permitting. Alternatively if you would like to discuss 'sampling' the game of bowls then contact the club on 07879 486746 or via the Contact link on this web site.
Remember this is your website and any comments concerning content or something new you would like to see will be gratefully received. Please contact the club via the Contact link.
