A Condensed History of the Bloxham Bowls Club - 1981 to 1999

9th November, 1984
After a long illness, Ted Hunt, the Patron of the Club, passed away.
The boundary wall along side Rink 4 during the season by Pete Nicholls and Ernie Newman.
11th April, 1985
The end near the car park had been concreted.
12th July, 1981
The Cherwell District Council had granted planning permission for the new clubhouse in the car park. But because of the restrictions, such as stone exterior required, overall cost became a major problem.
9th August, 1981
Alan Nicholls and Bobby Coles were awarded their Oxfordshire Bowling Association. badges.
4th March, 1982
Cyril Hicks donated another silver cup to the club. This cup to be played for annually by members who had not previously won a singles cup and called the 'Cyril Hicks Challenge Club'.
13th April, 1986
Derek Green was employed as greenkeeper.
22nd May, 1988
Gary Lucas, John Stephens and Graham Woodward selected to play for the County.
19th June, 1988
John Webb awarded his County badge.
11th November, 1988
John Stephens and Jim Lucas were awarded their full County Indoor badges.
14th July, 1991
Gary Lucas played in his first Middleton Cup Game. Only the second person in the Club history to have done so.
Ernie Newman, the Patron of the Club, passed away this year.
John Webb was elected President of the Oxfordshire Indoor Bowling Association.
It was an all Bloxham finals in the Spencer triples competition.

11th September, 1992
Jim Hay and M. Poulton played for the County.
13th November, 1992
Arthur Coles (Founder Member) and Ron (Nobby) Clarke M.B.E. both passed away this year.
11th November, 1994
Gary Lucas was awarded his 50th County Match Badge.
1996
Bloxham Bowls Club received a Lottery Grant of £45,250, subject to the usual regulations, as part of the cost for a complete renovation of the clubhouse.
Founder Member and Trustee Bill Marshall and Members Joe Preedy, Brian Morby and Peggy Baxter passed away this year.
Bloxham were the Runners-up in the Hawker Cup.
Harry Teale donated a cup for the Ladies Pairs competition.
Pat Ostler became the first lady member of the committee.
1997
The 40th Anniversary of the Club was celebrated with the building of the new Clubhouse.
1998
Members Len Stroud, Den Callow and former Member Peter Nicholls passed away this year.
Graham Woodward took over as the Club Greenkeeper.
Alan Nicholls was appointed Trustee to fill a position left by the late Bill Marshall.
1999
Founder Member George Humphries and Members Harry Teale and Peter Grant passed away this year.
George Humphries ashes were scattered on the Green and an ornamental tree donated to his memory, by his wife, was planted.
Pat Ostler was elected Junior Vice President of the O.W.B.A.
